CHASE
OVERVIEW
A first-person horror survival game. You play as a young mechanic trapped inside an abandoned facility with a rogue homicidal machine. In order to escape, the player must venture through the facility to find buttons to unlock the exit out of the facility.
KEY FEATURES
Enemy Artificial System
The machine uses an AI created in-house with Unreal Engine 5.6, which allows for it to utilize pathfinding and player detection to accurately begin chasing the player.
Interactive Puzzle System
“CHASE” features mini-games throughout the map in the style of Super-Monkey Ball, in which these function as the player’s motivation to escape the facility. When the player has successfully completed all 6 puzzles, they must rush back to the unlocked exit to escape.
Visual Shader Pack
“CHASE” features stunning graphics accompanied with our visual shader pack, curated in-house by our team to invoke a hyper-stylized feel for player perspective. Very reminiscent of games such as “Borderlands” and “Darkest Dungeon”, this pack is one of the most spoken features of our game.
My Contributions
I created a pathfinding & player detection blueprint for our monster, MEDORA, to properly fill the role of the antagonist of CHASE. Through the blueprint, the monster finds it’s way through the room, which helps it move naturally through it’s surroundings. As MEDORA sees the player, it will begin it’s pursuit until it longer can view the player.
BLUEPRINTING
I also designed the User Interfaces for the Start Screen, Win, Lose, and How to Play screens for their intended purposes. I had also captured the photo used in house as a background to suit the theme of the game, as well as played with the lighting to invoke the feel of the game.
